I never gave much thought to Valentine

  1. I love your idea! The cookie pictures is hilarious. I used to spend a lot of VD’s feeling sorry for myself too–but your coworker is off the charts!

  2. Hmm . . . begrudging happiness for others because you’re unhappy. Yeah, can’t imagine why you’re unattached, Little Miss Sunshine! You should have taken her out, Wanda!

  3. I was feeling a bit blue yesterday, with V-Day coming today. It’s tough being alone on “special” days, as Ivan was quite a romantic in many ways. I sat in his recliner, the tears running down my cheeks, when I realized that I have the best gift of “loving” ever. My world is filled with so many wonderful people that I had no reason for hosting my own pity party. Nope, they don’t go to bed with me, but I know they are there, waiting for me, when I need them the most.
So, happy un-Valentine’s day to all my friends who are also alone–and yet not.

  4. Great post, Wanda. Gosh, what a Grinch. In the offices where I worked the non-Valentines just stayed in their cubbies and kept their mouths shut. Sometimes that was me, somtimes not.
@Janet, Loved your line “…friends who are also alone-and yet not.” What a great realization to keep you warm on V day.

  5. That batch of cookies is hilarious. This is a wonderful post.

I’m a fellow crusader. Just thought I’d stop by and say hello!

  6. Wanda, I like to look at VD Day as a perfect excuse to coerce the husband into buying me dinner. Nothing more, nothing less.
Love your funny post, and those cookies are priceless!

  7. Great points Wanda! Boo hoo, there’s just no “social” justice when it comes to romance.
    Love the smart cookies!

  8. Should have told her you knew how she flelt about such displays. That’s why you told the first wave of singers, florists, and chocolatiers that were for her to go away.

  9. Hi, Fellow Crusader,

I really enjoyed your post! Looking forward to reading more.

  10. haha – I like Jo’s suggestion. But really, in this day and age school is more about fair than about doing well, no matter the subject. Life is not fair and Valentine’s Day is for lovers. If you don’t happen to be someone’s lover, well suck it up and better luck next year.

  11. Love it, Wanda. It’s the same as not being able to say Merry Christmas because of the handful of people who are offended. I refuse to live life in fear of those self-centered, overly sensitive types. Great read.

  12. One who may have been there...

This stirs up vague repressed memories in the back of my mind… This was long long ago, huh? That, or you are really good at the power of suggestion, but I don’t think that’s it! 😉

Cookies look great – I settled for picking up tiropita and baklava from Nikki’s on the way home from work!

  13. Great post, Wanda! Happy Valentine’s Day!

  14. Wow, what a nasty lady. Doesn’t sound like there’s much question why she’s alone.

Fellow crusader here, by the way. Nice to meet you :).

  15. I guess I’ve had too many Valentine’s Days when I was the one looking on and gnashing my teeth to forget people who aren’t in a relationship. I’m lucky now – very lucky, but I like to think I’m considerate of people who are not in a relationship.

Good to meet you, fellow crusader. Hope to get to know you more during the crusade.

  16. Hi, Wanda,

I hopped over from Rach’s list to introduce myself and follow.

Today’s the first challenge was posted…. YAH!

    Michael

  17. Nice to meet you crusader. Now following!

    Nikki

  18. Hey, fellow Crusader here – it would be great if you could have some kind of RSS feed or something so I could follow your blog that way. Or is it here and I just can’t see it?!

  19. Hello fellow crusader – great cookies!

  20. Hi crusader. Love the cookies by the way. Might be a new trend. So I added you to my reader feed. Have a fun weekend

  21. Just popped on over to introduce myself as a fellow crusader and new follower. I’m off to try challenge # 1 now!

  22. I can’t imagine anyone being that bothered by valentines day. I mean, I can but…REALLY? I’ve only had a valentine that wasn’t my mother twice in the span of my life. Never bothered me. Actually, what bothers me more is my roommates “The Notebook” poster. She ordered the poster a week ago. It just came. She put it up. And immediately both of us single gals were like “wow, that’s depressing.” lol

  24. Fellow crusader, aloha! How are you? I enjoyed your post. I feel that holidays are meant for kids. They are the spirit of most. I look forward to reading more of your stuff!
