How The Hell…….. An Ode To New Year’s Eve 2011

We’re at the end of yet another year
I have to stop and ask
I don’t remember yesterday
So how the hell can I be here?

The beginning is just a hazy blur
And yet were at the end
Where are all the middle pieces?
How the hell did I get here?

I had big plans for this past year
Margaritas, friends, words on end
Stories, blogs, and books begun
Someone tell me please, how the hell did I get here?

Some events stand vivid, almost crystal clear
Many others are just a blur
The beginning, the end, I’m always behind
How the hell did I get here?

We are on the dawn of a brand new year
But I’m not finished with the last
I’ve things to do, places to go, words yet to record
Explain to me my predicament, how the hell did I get here?

Is there a way to stop this year?
From fading to the past
I need more time, I’m just not done
What the hell am I doing here?

It’s not the margaritas, and surely not the beer
It’s not the blogs, nor friends, nor enemies
Or Facebook that’s to blame
But something happened to my time, how the hell did I get here?

I’ve no idea who stole this past year
Or what he did with my time
But if I find his thieving ass
I’ll ask what the hell am I doing here?

I guess it’s time to shove this year
From the present to the past
And move forward as time insists
But I’m going screaming “Can anyone tell me, what the hell I’m doing here?”

  1. I don’t know, but I’m here with you. Happy New Year!

  2. I have no clue. I plan to hang up the new calendars tonight, but I think I’ll just tear out the pages for March-October. Seems like the years go so fast that I can’t find them anyway!

Oh, as for a “to-do” list? Seems like my “to-do’s” quickly become “didn’t do” items.

Happy New Year! Remember to count the blessings. The rest of the junk doesn’t matter because those are the things you can’t remember anyway.

What you are doing here sounds so complicated but there is only one answer. You are here to keep us entertained.

  4. One step closer to EBWW 2012!

  5. We could get it all done if time didn’t speed up.I can’t even remember what was on my bucket list last January 1.

  6. When you find out, you let me know, cause I somehow got here too, and with so many things unfinished.

  7. Good questions, Wanda. I’m not sure what I’m doing or how I arrived here.
